Tigers Alternate Logo
The Texas Southern Tigers have a long and proud history of athletic excellence, and their alternate logo is an important part of that story. The original design was created in 1969 to represent the school's commitment to diversity, unity, and strength. It features a tiger head with two stars above it - one for each gender - as well as three stripes on either side representing the colors red, white, and blue. This logo has become synonymous with Texas Southern University athletics ever since its introduction over 50 years ago.
Since then there have been several variations on this classic design used by various sports teams at TSU over the years including football (the 1970s-80s), basketball (1980s-90s), baseball (1990s), and softball (2000). These logos were designed to reflect changes in style or team identity while still keeping true to the original concept behind it: celebrating pride through unity across different disciplines within TSU Athletics Department.
Today’s version incorporates modern elements such as bolder lines along with updated typography which gives it a more contemporary look while staying true to its roots – celebrating both past successes & future aspirations associated with being part of “the Tiger Nation”! It also serves as an official NCAA mark for all varsity sports teams competing under this banner allowing them access to postseason play if they meet certain criteria set forth by governing bodies like Conference USA or Southwestern Athletic Conference where many members compete annually against each other throughout year-round competition cycles culminating yearly championships held at end season events around the country every springtime!
