Horned Frogs Alternate Logo

The TCU Horned Frogs have been an integral part of Texas Christian University since 1897. The original logo, created by a student in the early 1900s, featured a horned frog with its head facing left and its body forming an "S" shape. This logo has remained largely unchanged for over 100 years and is still used today as the main symbol of TCU athletics.

In 2005, however, the university unveiled a new alternate logo featuring two interlocking Ts that form a shield-like shape around the traditional horned frog image. This design was intended to represent both TCU’s history and tradition while also emphasizing modernity and progressiveness within its athletic program. The new design quickly became popular among students, alumni, and faculty members alike; it even earned recognition from Sports Illustrated magazine named it one of college sports' best logos in 2006!

Today this alternate logo continues to be widely used throughout campus on t-shirts merchandise items such as hats or mugs; yet despite its popularity, some fans remain loyal to the classic original version which they feel better represents their school spirit pride - making clear that no matter what changes are made there will always be something special about being part of “Frog Nation!”
