Dukes Alternate Logo
The James Madison Dukes have a long and storied history in the NCAA, but did you know they also have an alternate logo? This alternate logo has been part of the team’s identity since its inception in 1972. The original design was created by former JMU student Christopher Hines and featured a shield with three stars on it.
Since then, the Dukes' alternate logo has evolved over time to reflect their changing identity as well as advancements in graphic design technology. In 2002, for example, JMU unveiled an updated version of their shield-style emblem that incorporated more modern elements such as bolder colors and sharper lines. This new look paid homage to both past traditions while embracing contemporary trends at the same time – something that’s become synonymous with James Madison University athletics ever since!
Fast forward to 2020: After nearly two decades of using this updated version of their iconic crest-style emblem (which is still used today), JMU decided it was time for another change – one that would better capture what makes them unique while maintaining familiarity among fans old and new alike. Thus began work on creating yet another iteration of this classic symbol which eventually became known simply as “the Duke's head." Featuring a regal lion’s head atop a royal blue background surrounded by white stars - this latest incarnation perfectly encapsulates everything we love about being part of our beloved university: strength & courage; tradition & pride; loyalty & integrity…all wrapped up into one timeless image!
So whether you were around when Hines first designed his now legendary crest or just getting acquainted with all things Duke Nation now – there's no denying how important logos are when it comes to showing your school spirit! And if there's any takeaway here today let it be this: No matter where life takes us after graduation day…we'll always remember our roots thanks not only to those who came before us but also through symbols like these which will live forever within each generation throughout all generations from here until eternity!
