Falcons Alternate Logo
The Air Force Falcons have a long and storied history in the NCAA, with their iconic falcon logo being a symbol of excellence for decades. While the classic design has remained largely unchanged over the years, there have been several alternate logos that were used at various points throughout their history. Here we take a look back at some of these unique designs and how they helped shape what makes Air Force so special today.
One of the earliest examples was an eagle-shaped logo which was first seen during World War II as part of military recruitment efforts. The bird featured prominently on posters encouraging young men to join up, giving it an air of patriotism and heroism that still resonates today in many ways. This same design can be found on some vintage merchandise from this era such as t-shirts or hats - making them highly sought-after collectibles among fans!
Another interesting version is known as “the flying A” which dates back to 1966 when it debuted alongside other new branding efforts by then-athletic director Colonel Bert Wilson Jr. This particular iteration features an ‘A’ made out of wings with two stars above it – representing both courage & strength while also hinting towards higher education (as universities often use similar symbols). It remains one popular choice amongst those who want something different yet recognizable for their apparel choices or memorabilia collections!
Finally, there is perhaps no more famous alternative than “the thunderbird” – introduced in 1971 by head coach Ben Martin III following his team's success against archrival Navy Midshipmen (which included winning three consecutive Commander In Chief's Trophies). Featuring bold colors like red & blue along with lightning bolts emanating from its wings; this particular artwork quickly became synonymous not only with Air Force but college football itself due to its frequent appearances on television broadcasts across America during games involving either side involved in rivalry matches between them both!
Over time each variation has become ingrained into our culture thanks to loyal supporters wearing/displaying items featuring any combination thereof proudly wherever they go - whether that be tailgating before home games or even just around town showing off where your loyalties lie without saying anything else about yourself whatsoever! So if you're looking for something truly unique yet unmistakably representative then make sure to check out all available options when shopping next time because chances are one will fit perfectly within whatever wardrobe needs may arise down the road ahead… Go Falcons!!
