Huskies Primary Logo
The Washington Huskies are a collegiate athletic team that represents the University of Washington in Seattle. The primary logo for the team has been used since 1925 and is an iconic symbol of pride for students, alumni, and fans alike. This logo features a husky dog head with its tongue sticking out to one side - a reference to their mascot “Harry” who was first introduced in 1922.
In 1932, when the university changed its official colors from purple and gold to purple and silver, it also updated its primary logo by changing Harry's fur color from black-and-white stripes into solid purple with white accents around his eyes and mouth. In addition to this change, they also added two red feathers behind his neck which were meant as an homage to Chief Seattle whose name inspired UW's nickname "Huskies."
Today this classic design remains unchanged but it still serves as an important reminder of UW’s history as well as its commitment to creating strong ties between current students, alumni & fans through shared traditions like cheering on our beloved football team or simply wearing our school colors proudly across campus!

In 1920, the Associated Students of the University of Washington (ASUW) voted to approve Sundodger as its official mascot. The mascot consisted of a smiling figure holding an umbrella. The Sundodger was likely chosen as a tongue-in-cheek allusion to the city of Seattle\’s rainy weather.
