Bobcats Wordmark Logo

The Montana State Bobcats have a long and storied history of athletic excellence, and their wordmark logo has gone through several iterations since the school's founding in 1893. The original logo was designed by Professor Rufus G. Woodruff, who served as the first president of the university from 1893 to 1896. This simple design featured an orange "M" with a black outline inside a white circle against an orange background.

In 1929, Professor Woodruff's original design was replaced with one that included two crossed sabers below the "M". This version also changed up some elements within its composition: instead of featuring just one color (orange), it now used three colors—blue for sky blue accents around both swords and red for shading on each sword handle respectively—and added more detail to both sides of its central lettering element; this time including small stars above each armrest on either side plus extra detailing along the bottom edge beneath it all-together making up what we know today as “the classic” Bobcat head mark!

Fast forward to 2004 when another redesign took place which saw slight changes made such as adding additional details like fur textures around edges/corners or adjusting font sizes & weights but still keeping the overall look similar enough so people would recognize it instantly without being too drastic about things... And then finally in 2013, there were even further tweaks made which gave us our current iteration - incorporating modernized typefaces into the mix while maintaining the traditional shape & feel associated with previous versions!

Overall these various updates over years have helped keep Montana State University’s iconic wordmark relevant throughout changing times – giving students something recognizable they can take pride in no matter where their studies may lead them afterward!
