Cougars Primary Logo
The Houston Cougars have a long and storied history, dating back to the early 1900s. Their primary logo has gone through many changes over the years, reflecting both their successes on the field and in life. The current primary logo is an updated version of one that was first used in 1972 when it became part of what is now known as Conference USA.
The original design featured a large letter “H” with two cougar heads facing each other on either side. This symbolized strength and unity among all those affiliated with the team: players, coaches, staff members, fans—everyone involved had something to gain from being part of this great institution. In addition to representing strength and unity within its ranks, it also served as an important reminder for everyone associated with UH athletics—to always strive for excellence both on and off the field!
In 2003 there was another update made to their iconic logo; this time featuring a modernized look that included more vibrant colors than before (red & white) along with sharper lines around each element making up the mark itself – including additional emphasis placed upon those same two cougar heads which were originally introduced some three decades earlier! This new design provided not only visual appeal but also represented yet another step forward towards creating lasting memories amongst all who followed or supported UH athletics throughout its rich history; whether it be alumni cheering from afar or students attending games week after week - no matter what your connection maybe – you can proudly wear your school's colors knowing you are forever connected by way of tradition & pride!
