Big Red Alternate Logo
The Cornell Big Red is one of the most iconic college sports teams in the United States. With a long and storied history, it’s no surprise that they have had several different alternate logos throughout the years. From classic designs to modern takes on traditional symbols, these logos are an important part of their legacy and identity as a team.
The first alternate logo for Cornell Big Red was created in 1968 when the school adopted its current mascot – Touchdown the Bear – who appears prominently in many of its official graphics today. The design featured a cartoon bear wearing football pads with his front paws crossed over each other forming an “X” shape along with two stars above him representing success and victory on the field. This logo has been used by numerous teams since then including professional ones such as New England Patriots and Jacksonville Jaguars making it one of the most recognizable mascots around America.
Over time, this original design evolved into more modern versions which feature elements like 3D effects or bold colors to make them stand out from other collegiate athletics programs’ marks. For instance, during the 2010-2011 season, they released another version featuring a bright orange color scheme alongside white lettering spelling out ‘Cornell' across the chest area while adding subtle details like paw prints at the bottom corners giving the whole image a unique look compared to previous iterations before it.
In addition, there have also been some special edition logos made specifically for NCAA tournaments where the team participates annually such as the 2019 March Madness tournament which saw the release new variation depicting a bear holding a basketball instead football ball against a backdrop of yellowish gradient background giving an off the energetic vibe and perfect capturing an excitement associated big games taking place that year!
All these various iterations demonstrate how much depth can be found within a single symbol - something truly remarkable considering how long ago the first version debuted back in 1968! As we continue to see evolution take place over the coming years hopefully future incarnations bring the same level of enthusiasm that past ones did so fans everywhere will always recognize the power behind the beloved mascot known worldwide as simply as 'Touchdown.'
