Cardinals Primary Logo
The Ball State Cardinals have a long and storied history that dates back to 1922. The school has seen its share of success over the years, both on the field and in the classroom, making them one of the most recognizable programs in college athletics. A big part of their identity is their primary logo – an iconic symbol that has been around for decades and continues to be used today as a representation of Ball State pride.
The original version was designed by then-athletic director Arthur Luebker in 1962 when he wanted something “cleaner” than what had previously been used by other schools at the time. He chose red lettering with white trim against a black background – creating an instantly recognizable design that would become synonymous with Ball State Athletics for generations to come.
Over time, minor adjustments have been made including changing from serifed letters (with small decorative lines) to sans-serifed letters (without such decorations). Additionally, some color variations were also introduced like blue or gold backgrounds instead of black; however, none were ever officially adopted as official logos until recently when they launched several new versions featuring different color schemes all while keeping true to Mr. Luebker’s original design concept from 1962!
In addition to being prominently featured on uniforms throughout various sports teams at BSU such as basketball or football games; it can also be found emblazoned across apparel items like t-shirts & hats which are popular among students & alumni alike who proudly wear them out into everyday life - further cementing its status within NCAA culture! It's no wonder why this classic logo remains so beloved after all these years - it truly captures everything great about being a part of this amazing university: strength through unity & excellence through hard work!
