Cowboys Wordmark Logo

The McNeese State Cowboys have a long and storied history in college sports, with their iconic wordmark logo integral to that. The original McNeese State Cowboys logo was created in the 1950s when the school began competing at the NCAA level. It featured a bold black-and-white design with an interlocking "MC" inside a shield shape. This classic look has stood the test of time and is still used today on all official merchandise and uniforms for every sport that McNeese competes in.

Over time, minor changes have been made to this timeless logo to keep it modernized while preserving its traditional look and feel. In 2009, for example, two stars were added above each letter to give it more depth; then again in 2014 when blue was incorporated into the color palette as well as additional shading around each letter for more excellent definition—all without losing sight of its original roots from 60 years prior!

The most recent iteration came about just last year (2020) when they unveiled their new “modernized” version, which features sharper lines and brighter colors, including yellow & navy blue accents—giving fans something fresh yet familiar enough that there's no mistaking who they're cheering on! As you can see throughout these various iterations over decades' worth of competition, one thing remains constant: The unmistakable spirit & pride associated with being part of this great institution known as "McNeese State University."
