Hornets Primary Logo
Sacramento State Hornets have a proud history of athletic excellence and the school’s primary logo has been an important part of that tradition for decades. The original Sacramento State Hornet logo was introduced in 1969 and featured a cartoon-style hornet with its wings spread wide. This design remained unchanged until 1986 when the school updated it to feature more realistic-looking wings.
In 2004, Sacramento State underwent another redesign which included introducing two new logos – one featuring just the head of a hornet and another depicting an entire silhouette of a flying hornet. Both designs were embraced by fans as they provided an updated look while still retaining some elements from previous versions like bold colors (black & gold) and strong lines throughout each image.
The most recent update to the primary logo came in 2011 when Sacramento State decided to go back to its roots by reintroducing the classic “winged” version from 1969 but with modern touches such as sharper edges on all components including both horns, eyes, antennae, etc… This move proved popular amongst alumni who remembered seeing this iconic symbol during their time at SacState! Since then there have been no major changes or updates made so we can assume that this is now officially our official mascot/logo going forward into future seasons!
Overall it's clear that through various iterations over time -Sacramento state has managed to maintain its unique identity while also staying up-to-date with contemporary trends within the college athletics branding world today; making sure every fan knows exactly what team they are cheering for come game day!
