Buffaloes Wordmark Logo

The University of Colorado Buffaloes has a long and storied history with their wordmark logo. The first iteration of the logo dates back to 1915 when it was designed by Charles R. Savage for use on the football team’s uniforms. It featured an interlocking “CU” in black ink, with a white outline around it and two buffaloes facing each other at either side of the letters. This design has remained largely unchanged over its 105-year history, although there have been some minor tweaks along the way such as changing from black ink to gold or silver in certain applications or adding additional elements like stars or mountains around the lettering itself.

In 2006, however, CU underwent a major rebranding effort that saw them introduce an updated version of their classic wordmark logo which featured more modernized font designs and bolder colors than before (yellow replacing gold). This new look also incorporated subtle nods towards both Colorado state pride (mountains) as well as Native American culture (buffalo heads). Since then this redesign has become synonymous with CU athletics teams across all sports platforms including football jerseys & helmets; basketball courts; baseball caps; etc., making it one of college sports' most iconic logos today!

Overall then we can see that while many aspects remain consistent throughout its 105-year lifespan – such as keeping true to its original design – there are still plenty enough changes made along the way which help keep things fresh & exciting for fans whilst also paying homage to both local heritage & culture alike!
