Wildcats Primary Logo

The New Hampshire Wildcats are proud NCAA Division I athletics program members, and their logo has been an integral part of their identity for many years. The primary logo has changed, but its essence remains the same: strength, pride, and determination. In this blog post, we’ll look at how the Wildcat’s primary logo evolved throughout history to become what it is today.

The first version of the New Hampshire Wildcats' primary logo was introduced in 1938 when they joined Division I athletics as members of ECAC Hockey (now known as Hockey East). This original design featured a fierce-looking wildcat standing atop an outline map with “New Hampshire” written inside it. The colors used were black and white with red accents on either side to represent power and energy – attributes that have defined UNH hockey ever since!

Over time, several changes have been made to this iconic emblem, most notably in 2003 when they switched from using only two colors (black & white) to three (red being added). This new version also incorporated more details into both elements – namely, adding stripes along each side of the cat's body, which further conveyed its sense of fierceness while remaining true to its roots by keeping all other aspects relatively unchanged, such as font choice or shape/size ratio between them both.

Additionally, in 2015, another update was made where some minor tweaks were done, including making sure that all lines around edges matched up perfectly so no matter how small or large you viewed it, everything would remain balanced; plus, giving depth perception through shadowing effects on certain parts like whiskers, etc. All these modifications help keep things fresh yet faithful to the original concept created back in 1938, which is why, even after almost 80 years, people instantly recognize who those two symbols belong to - Go Cats!
