Cowboys Wordmark Logo
The Wyoming Cowboys have been a powerhouse in the NCAA since their formation in 1893. Their iconic wordmark logo has become an integral part of the school's identity, representing its rich history and tradition. In this blog post, we'll take a look at the history of this famous logo and how it has evolved over time to become one of college sports' most recognizable symbols.
The original Wyoming Cowboys wordmark was created by artist Charles Eames in 1909 as part of his design for the school’s first football uniform. The design featured two crossed rifles above three stars set against a brown background with white lettering that read “Wyoming Cowboys." This classic version is still used today on some merchandise such as hats and t-shirts but it underwent several changes throughout its lifetime to keep up with modern trends.
In 1978, designer Richard Vollmer updated the logo to feature more prominent star elements along with brighter colors including blue, yellow, and red which are now synonymous with University spirit wear apparel items like sweatshirts or jackets. This new version also included an outline around each letter giving them more definition which made them stand out even better when printed on products or displayed digitally online where they can be seen from afar without losing any detail whatsoever.
Today, the Wyoming Cowboy's current wordmark features bolder font styles while maintaining all other aspects from previous iterations - making sure fans know exactly who they're cheering for no matter what medium it appears on! It truly serves as an enduring symbol not only representing UW athletics but also honoring those who've come before us by keeping alive our proud heritage through visual representation - something that will always remain timelessly relevant regardless if times change or not!
