Longhorns Wordmark Logo
The Texas Longhorns wordmark logo has been around for over a century and is one of the most recognizable logos in all of college athletics. It was first introduced in 1913, when the University of Texas’s football coach, Dana X. Bible, commissioned artist John Lang to create a new logo that would represent the school’s athletic teams. The result was an iconic image featuring two longhorn steers facing each other with UT written below them on an orange background – which still serves as the university’s official symbol today!
Over time, this original design has evolved slightly but remains largely unchanged from its inception more than 100 years ago. In 1947 it received its first major update: instead of being drawn by hand like before, it became a printed version with cleaner lines and sharper edges; then again in 1982 when computer technology allowed for more precise details to be added such as shading and shadows behind both animals' heads making them look even more realistic! Finally, in 2002, some minor adjustments were made including adding “Texas Longhorns” underneath both animals so people could easily identify what team they represented without having any confusion about their identity or affiliation.
Today this classic design continues to be used proudly by fans everywhere who show off their support through apparel or decorations at games - proving that no matter how much things change over time some traditions will always remain timelessly beloved! From students attending classes on campus wearing t-shirts bearing these famous words & symbols to alumni sporting stickers while tailgating outside stadiums; everyone can recognize & appreciate just how special this long-standing tradition really is - representing not only excellence but also loyalty among those affiliated with UT Austin forevermore!
