Midshipmen Alternate Logo
The Navy Midshipmen have a long and storied history of success in the NCAA. From winning multiple national championships to producing some of the greatest players in college football, they are one of the most respected programs in all of the sports. But what many may not know is that throughout its history, they have also had an alternate logo that has become synonymous with its brand.
The first iteration of this logo was introduced back in 1971 when it featured a blue anchor with gold lettering spelling out “Navy” above it. This design remained relatively unchanged for nearly two decades until 1989 when it was slightly tweaked to include a more modern font and bolder colors for better visibility on-field uniforms and merchandise alike. The current version features an updated shield shape surrounding the iconic anchor as well as navy blue stars at each corner giving off a patriotic vibe that fans can easily recognize from afar or up close during games or other events hosted by Navy athletics teams such as basketball, hockey, lacrosse, etc.
The classic look has been used ever since its introduction over four decades ago but there have been slight variations through time including different fonts being used depending on which season (fall/winter) or year (1992-93 etc.). It's no surprise then why so many people associate this symbol with prideful excellence associated with America's Finest - our U S Naval Academy Midshipmen!
