Demon Deacons Alternate Logo
The Wake Forest Demon Deacons have a long and storied history of alternate logos, which reflect the evolution of the school’s athletic program over time. The first logo was introduced in 1969 and featured an image of a deacon holding a Bible with “Wake Forest” written across it. This logo was used until 1999, when it was replaced by an updated version that included the university's full name and its mascot: "Demon Deacon".
In 2006, Wake Forest unveiled its most recent alternate logo, which is still in use today. It features two interlocking Ws to represent both “Wake” and “Forest” while incorporating elements from previous designs, such as the bible-holding deacon figure from 1969. Additionally, this new design includes modern touches like curved lines for added dynamism and energy. This look has become synonymous with Wake Forest athletics since its introduction over 13 years ago.
Throughout their history, one thing has remained constant about all three versions of these logos: they all capture something unique about what makes up Wake Forests' spirit—from tradition to innovation—and remind fans why they continue to cheer on their beloved Demon Deacons year after year!
