Prairie View A&M Panthers is a college sports team that has been around since the late 1800s. The school's athletic teams are members of NCAA Division I and compete in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). As one of the oldest HBCUs (historically black colleges and universities) in existence, Prairie View A&M has a long history with its wordmark logo.
The original logo was created back in 1921 when Prairie View joined what would become known as SWAC. It featured an orange panther head centered on a blue shield with white trim, set against an orange background. This design stayed relatively unchanged for decades until it underwent some minor changes to modernize it during the 1990s and 2000s. In 2012, however, there was another major overhaul to give it more of an updated look while still maintaining its classic elements from before: namely keeping both colors - blue and orange - intact but adding new features like bolder lines for greater visibility on uniforms or merchandise items such as hats or t-shirts.
Today’s version stays true to this concept but adds even more details such as shading within each letterform creating depth; curved edges along certain letters which give them movement; plus extra detailing like stars inside “A” & “M” representing academic excellence at PVAMU amongst other things! All these subtle touches make up what we now know today –the iconic Panther Wordmark Logo–and have helped keep this symbol alive throughout generations past present future alike!
