Mean Green Alternate Logo
For decades, the University of North Texas Mean Green has been a source of pride for students and alumni alike. With its iconic green and white color scheme, Mean Green has become one of college football’s most recognizable teams. But did you know that they also have an alternate logo?
The Mean Green first introduced their alternate logo in 2006 as part of a rebranding effort to modernize their look. The design featured two interlocking “N” letters with a stylized eagle perched atop them – both symbols representing North Texas’s commitment to excellence, strength, and courage. This new emblem was meant to represent not only the school but also its spirit: “We will fight! We will win! Go, Mean Green!”
In 2012, UNT unveiled another version of this same logo which featured brighter colors and sharper lines than before – making it even more eye-catching on sports apparel or promotional materials. This updated design is still used today by fans all over the world who proudly display it in support of their beloved team from Denton County.
Over time, the University's athletic department has made small adjustments here or there - such as changing out certain fonts or adding additional details like stars - but overall this classic graphic remains unchanged since its introduction almost fifteen years ago. It serves as an important reminder about what makes UNT special: unity, loyalty, resilience ...and above all else...a winning attitude!
