Tigers Primary Logo
Grambling State University, located in Grambling, Louisiana has a long-standing tradition of excellence. The school’s athletic teams are known as the Tigers and their primary logo is an iconic symbol that represents the university's history and pride. The Grambling State Tigers Primary Logo has been around since 1965 when it was designed by former student and artist Henry Pate III.
The design features a simple black tiger head facing forward with its mouth open to reveal two white fangs on either side of its muzzle. Above this is a curved banner with “GRAMBLING STATE” written in bold yellow lettering which emphasizes the school's name while adding contrast to the dark background color choice used for most other elements within the design itself. In addition to being used on all official team uniforms, merchandise, banners, etc., this logo also appears prominently at center court during basketball games at GSU's home arena - Fredrick C Hobdy Assembly Center - as well as many other places throughout campus where it proudly serves as one of many symbols representing both past & present success stories from students who have attended or graduated from GSU over time.
In 2017, the NCAA officially recognized Grambling State University's Tiger Logo by awarding them special certification status for having met certain standards set forth by governing body rules & regulations (this includes things like size requirements along with overall aesthetic). This recognition further solidifies what we already know – that not only does this iconic image represent our university but also stands proud amongst others across college athletics today!
