Tigers Wordmark Logo
The Grambling State Tigers have a long and proud history that is reflected in their wordmark logo. The iconic GSU “G” has been used by the university since its founding, and it remains one of the most recognizable logos in college sports today. The original design was created by legendary coach Eddie Robinson, who wanted to create a unique symbol for his beloved school. Over time, this simple yet powerful logo has come to represent not only Grambling State University but also all of its athletic teams—the football team especially—and their many accomplishments over the years as members of the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).
The current version of the GSU “G” was designed by former student-athlete Cesar Gonzalez in 2002 after he won an art contest held among students on campus at that time. He wanted to capture both traditional elements from previous designs while adding modern touches such as bold colors and sharper lines which would make it easier for fans around the world to recognize when they see it on apparel or other merchandise related to Grambling Athletics programs. Today's design features two shades of blue with white lettering outlined with gold accents giving off an overall regal look befitting any championship program like those found at GSU!
In addition, there are several variations within this main wordmark logo depending on what sport or event you're looking at; some versions feature stars above each letter while others may include tiger stripes along either side instead - no matter what variation you choose though they all still carry the same message: that being part prideful tradition associated with being part Tiger Nation! As one can see through these various iterations throughout decades worth of history behind them – even if things change over the course of time our commitment to excellence never does - making sure everyone knows just how much we truly care about every single person associated with us here at Grambling State University!
