Greyhounds Alternate Logo
The Loyola-Maryland Greyhounds are a collegiate athletic program that competes in the NCAA Division I. The team has been around since 1920, and its iconic greyhound logo is one of the most recognizable symbols in college sports. However, not many people know about the alternate logos used by this storied program throughout its history.
In fact, there have been several alternate logos for Loyola-Maryland over its 100 years of existence. One such example is from 1969 when they opted to use a more stylized version of their traditional greyhound head logo with red and black accents on an all-white background. This particular design was only used for two seasons before being replaced by another unique creation which featured a silhouette of two running hounds against an orange backdrop with bold lettering across it reading "LOYOLA."
Another notable change came during the mid-1980s when they introduced what would become known as “the paw” logo which featured three interlocking paws forming an outline around a larger paw at center stage – all set atop either blue or gray backgrounds depending upon whether it was appearing on home or away uniforms respectively at any given time period during that era.
In recent years however, while still maintaining some elements from previous designs (such as color palettes), Loyola has adopted yet another new look featuring both modern and classic elements combined into one cohesive unit – including updated typefaces along with subtle shading effects to help create depth within each mark itself. Ultimately though regardless if you prefer these newer versions or older ones -it's clear to see why so many fans continue showing up year after year proudly wearing whatever iteration happens to be currently representing their beloved Greyhounds!
