Eagles Wordmark Logo

The Georgia Southern Eagles have a long and proud history of excellence in NCAA athletics. From their inception in 1924, the Eagles have consistently been one of the top teams in the nation, competing for championships on both a regional and national level. As such, it is only fitting that they would also possess an iconic wordmark logo to represent them as well.

The current Georgia Southern Eagles wordmark logo was first unveiled back in 1990 when then-athletic director Jim Senter decided to give his team an updated look with more modern features. The design featured bold typography with large block letters spelling out “EAGLES” above two swooping wings beneath it—a perfect representation of what this university stands for strength and determination through flight! This new design has since become synonymous with GSU Athletics—an instantly recognizable symbol that fans everywhere can identify without fail whenever they see it on any merchandise or apparel related to their beloved team!

In addition to its strong visual appeal, there is much symbolism behind this particular mark as well; each element carries its own meaning which helps tell a story about who we are at our core values here at Georgia Southern University: Strength (the bold typeface), Flight (the wings), Determination (the curved lines) & Pride (our colors). All these elements combined create something truly unique and special – one that will stand the test of time no matter how many years go by or how often trends come & go within collegiate sports branding circles!
