49ers Primary Logo
The Long Beach State 49ers have a long and storied history, and their primary logo is no exception. The current logo has been in use since the mid-1990s, but its origins date back much further. Let's take a look at the evolution of this iconic emblem!
The first iteration of the Long Beach State 49ers Primary Logo was introduced in 1959 as part of an overall rebranding effort for the university’s athletic teams. It featured a simple yet powerful design: two crossed swords set against an orange sunburst background with “LBSU” written across it. This version would remain unchanged until 1985 when it was updated to include more modern typography and colors that better reflected school spirit—namely black, gold, white and navy blue.
In 1994 another update occurred which saw minor changes made to both font selection as well as a color palette; however, this time around there were also some major additions including two new elements—a beach ball (representing California) on one side of the crossed swords symbolizing sportsmanship while on another side there is now an anchor representing strength & stability within athletics program itself. Additionally “Long Beach State University” replaced the previous acronymic wording beneath the main graphic element giving viewers a clearer sense of where the institution stands academically speaking too!
Finally, after several years without any modifications being made once again, we see slight tweaks occurring during the 2020 refresh process such that sword handles become thicker while shading appears darker making them appear sharper than before–allowing the overall composition to stand out even further than ever before amongst competition due its unique visual characteristics alone!
Today's Long Beach State 49ers Primary Logo remains true to its original roots while still evolving over time - embodying all aspects associated with college sports team culture from academic excellence through spirited competition & beyond into something truly special for alumni everywhere who proudly wear these colors each day they step onto field or court alike...
