Broncos Wordmark Logo

The Boise State Broncos have been a powerhouse in the NCAA since their inception back in 1933. With an impressive record of success, it’s no surprise that the team has also developed a unique and iconic wordmark logo to represent them over the years. In this blog post, we will take a look at some of the different versions of this logo and explore its history within college sports.

The original Boise State Broncos wordmark first appeared on uniforms during their inaugural season in 1933 as part of an effort to create uniformity across all teams competing under then-Boise Junior College (BJC). The design featured two orange B's stacked atop one another with “BOISE STATE BRONCOS” written below them in white lettering on blue background – creating what is now known as “the classic Bronco branding". This style remained unchanged until 1964 when they adopted new colors and updated font styles for both home and away jerseys.

In 1983, after joining the Division I-A football program, Boise State released yet another version featuring bolder typography alongside traditional school colors - royal blue & orange - while still keeping true to its origins by maintaining those same two stacked b's from before. This design was used throughout much of the 1990s up until 1998 when they introduced a more modernized version that included sleeker lines along with additional elements such as stars surrounding each letter representing five decades worth of accomplishments for university athletics programs.

Finally, the current iteration debuted in 2011 just in time to celebrate the 100th-anniversary institution itself; the most noticeable change was the switch out of blocky letters and slimmer scriptwriting giving off a sleek contemporary feel. Additionally, there were a few minor tweaks color palette to make way brighter shades of blues and oranges better match the rest school branding materials like website banners posters etcetera. All said and done, these subtle changes helped bring together a cohesive visual identity to help distinguish themselves from the competition collegiate level and beyond!
