Abilene Christian Wildcats have been a part of NCAA Division I athletics since 1973, and their logo has changed. The current wordmark logo for Abilene Christian was unveiled in 2018 and featured an updated version of the school's longtime mascot, Wildcat Willie. This new design represents strength, agility, and determination - all qualities that make up a great athlete!

The original Wildcat Willie appeared on Abilene’s uniforms in 1976 when they joined the Southland Conference. It was designed by art professor Dr. Bill Cole who wanted something unique to represent his beloved alma mater – he even included his initials at the bottom right corner of each drawing! Over time this iconic symbol became synonymous with ACU Athletics as it graced everything from jerseys to merchandise items throughout campus stores & outlets nationwide.
