Volunteers Wordmark Logo

The Tennessee Volunteers wordmark logo has a long and proud history dating back to the late 19th century. The original design was created in 1891 by John M. Everett, a former student at the University of Tennessee who had served on its board of trustees since 1889. This logo featured an orange “T” with white trim surrounded by two stars and five stripes representing each branch of service in the United States military during World War I.

Since then, this iconic symbol has been used as part of virtually every version of the official university logos over time including those for athletics teams such as football, basketball, and baseball teams; academic organizations like fraternities/sororities; alumni groups; campus clubs/organizations; special events such as Homecoming or Spring Fling celebrations; merchandise items sold through various outlets - both online and off-campus stores alike - all across America (and beyond).

Today's modernized version features an updated font that is slightly bolder than its predecessor while still maintaining some semblance of its classic look from years past. It also adds two additional elements: a torch icon which stands for knowledge & enlightenment plus three interlocking circles that represent unity among students, faculty & staff members alike at UT Knoxville – making this one truly unique yet timeless visual representation not only for Vol Nation but also higher education institutions worldwide!
