Mountaineers Primary Logo
The West Virginia Mountaineers have a long and storied history, which is represented in their primary logo. The first iteration of the logo was created in 1970 when it featured an outline of the state of West Virginia with “Mountaineers” written across it. This design has been modified slightly throughout the years to include more detail and color to represent the school's spirit. In 1989, for example, a new version featuring two crossed rifles was added as well as an orange trim around its edges.
In 2002 another change was made that included adding a blue stripe along with gold stars representing each county within West Virginia; this design became known as "The State Logo". This version also featured a black background instead of the white one used previously by other logos before it. It wasn't until 2014 that major changes were made again when they unveiled their current primary logo which features three different elements: The WVU shield at its center surrounded by two crossed rifles on either side and topped off with five stars above them all symbolizing both strength and unity among students alumni faculty staff members alike!
Overall these modifications show how important tradition has been for WVU over time while still being able to keep up with modern trends such designs can be seen everywhere from t-shirts hats jerseys backpacks etcetera showing just how much pride people take in wearing their Mountaineer colors! As we move forward into future generations may our beloved university continue making strides toward excellence so that everyone who proudly wears those colors will feel connected no matter where life takes them or what challenges come ahead - Goooooooo EERS!!
