As a sports fan, you may have heard of the Cal Baptist Lancers and their iconic logo. The Lancers wordmark has been part of the university's history since its inception in 1950. It is now an integral part of their identity as they transition to NCAA Division I athletics. The original version of the Cal Baptist University (CBU) wordmark was created in 1950 by CBU art professor Robert Ehlert using hand-drawn lettering on paper with a brush pen. This design featured large block letters that read “CalBaptistLancers,” each letter connected like chain links – later known as “the Chain Link Logo." It was used until 1972, when it underwent some slight modifications before being replaced by a more modernized look featuring thinner fonts and brighter colors.

By 2007, CBU had adopted its current mark - an updated version of "the Chain Link Logo" featuring bolder typefaces along with two interlocking lances that symbolize strength, courage & unity among students & alumni alike, all while maintaining true to traditional roots set forth from decades prior!

Today, this classic yet contemporary emblem is proudly displayed across campus buildings & merchandise items representing both intercollegiate teams at California Baptist University - ranging from baseball caps/t-shirts/sweatshirts/flags, etc., making it one recognizable icon amongst fellow NCAA Division I institutions nationwide! As such, no matter where you are or who you're cheering for - there's no mistaking those bright red lances crossing paths against a white backdrop whenever seeing them!
