Tigers Alternate Logo
The Memphis Tigers have had a long and storied history with their logo. The team first adopted the Tiger head logo in 1925, which featured a fierce tiger’s face with an orange “M” for Memphis on its forehead. This iconic design has been used by the university ever since as its primary athletic symbol, making it one of the most recognizable logos in college sports.
Over time, however, several alternate logos have also been created to represent different aspects of the school's identity or commemorate special occasions or events related to University athletics. In 1998, an alternate version of this classic Tiger head was released featuring two crossed swords behind it as well as red stripes along each side — representing both strength and courage — that were meant to signify loyalty among players and fans alike.
In 2006 another alternative logo was unveiled featuring three stars above the traditional tiger head; these stars represented excellence in academics (blue), athletics (orange), and community service (white). This new emblem quickly became popular among students at all levels who wanted something unique yet still representative of their beloved team spirit! With so many different versions available today - from retro designs to modern takes - there is sure to be something for everyone when shopping around for official Memphis Tigers apparel!
