Lions Alternate Logo

The Lindenwood Lions have a long and storied history in college athletics, and their alternate logo is no exception. The Lindenwood Lions are the official athletic teams of Lindenwood University, located in St. Charles, Missouri. The university competes at the NCAA Division II level as a member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA).

Lindenwood’s original mascot was a lion cub named Leo who first appeared on varsity uniforms during an intercollegiate basketball game against Central Methodist College in 1925. In 1962, Leo was replaced by an adult lion with a mane that has been used ever since as part of school logos and designs associated with athletic programs at all levels from youth to professional sports organizations around the world.

In 2008, however, when it came time for new branding for its athletics program ahead of joining the NCAA Division II competition that fall season; Lindenwood decided to introduce an alternative logo featuring two lions facing each other – one brown and one gold – surrounded by “LWU” lettering inside a circular shape representing unity among students athletes faculty staff alumni parents boosters fans & friends alike! This unique design quickly became popular amongst Lion faithful everywhere & continues to be featured prominently across social media platforms websites apparel merchandise signage etc…

Today this iconic symbol remains synonymous with pride passion excellence & tradition here at LWU while also serving as a reminder that we are all #OneLionStrongerTogether!
