Hoyas Alternate Logo
The Georgetown Hoyas have a long and storied history, with their iconic logo being an important part of that. The original logo was created in the late 1970s and featured a bulldog wearing an old-style football helmet with the school’s initials “GU” on it. This design has been tweaked over time to reflect different eras in the team's history, but it still remains true to its roots as one of college sports' most recognizable logos.
In 2014, Georgetown unveiled a new alternate logo featuring Jack Jr., a more modern take on their traditional mascot. Designed by Nike Graphic Designer Erich Brechbuhl, this version features Jack Jr., sporting sunglasses while holding basketballs in both hands above his head; he also wears shorts instead of pants like his predecessor did before him! Additionally, there are three stars placed around him representing each National Championship won by the Hoyas men's basketball program (1984-1985 & 2007).
Jack Jr.'s arrival marked another chapter for Georgetown athletics and helped usher them into modern times without sacrificing any of their rich traditions or unique identifier associated with previous versions of their iconic logo. It is now seen throughout campus as well as at games where students proudly display it alongside other Hoya memorabilia such as flags and banners celebrating past accomplishments made by teams from all sports programs offered at GU!
