Tigers Wordmark Logo
The Princeton Tigers are one of the most iconic and recognizable college athletics programs in the nation. The school's wordmark logo is a symbol of its long-standing tradition and excellence, as well as an important part of its identity.
The history behind this classic logo dates back to 1896 when it was first used on letterheads for Princeton University’s athletic teams. It featured a tiger head with stripes along with the university’s name written out below it in bold letters. This design has been tweaked over time but still remains largely unchanged from its original form today, making it one of the oldest logos in college sports history!
In addition to being used on letterheads and other official documents related to athletics at Princeton, this logo has also become synonymous with NCAA Division I men's basketball since 1997 when they began using it for their tournament appearances. Since then, many teams have adopted similar designs featuring animals or mascots combined with their own school names or initials - further solidifying how unique and timeless this particular wordmark is!
Over 120 years later after first being created by an unknown artist at Princeton University; we can still recognize that same tiger head silhouette proudly displayed across all kinds of merchandise associated with both collegiate athletics programs around America – including apparel like t-shirts hats jerseys etc., as well as banners flags stickers mugs cups keychains posters you name it…all displaying that unmistakable orange & black color scheme which represents strength courage loyalty & pride within our beloved institution here at “Old Nassau."
