Panthers Wordmark Logo

The FIU Panthers have a long and proud history, and their wordmark logo is no exception. Since the school's inception in 1972, the university has used several different logos to represent its athletic program.

The first iteration of the FIU Panthers' wordmark logo was introduced during their inaugural season in 1977. It featured a stylized version of an orange panther head with white eyes against a black background along with "FIU" written above it in bold white lettering. This design served as an early representation of both strength and spirit for Panther fans everywhere!

In 1998, the university unveiled its second official wordmark logo: an updated version that incorporated more modern elements while still retaining some classic features from previous designs such as its orange color scheme and strong font choice for “FIU” text at the top center position on this new design which gave it more visibility than before when placed over other images or backgrounds. The current incarnation showcases two crossed swords behind the “FIU” text to further emphasize the power & pride associated with being part of the Florida International University community; additionally, there are also two stars located underneath sword handles – one blue star representing excellence in academics while another gold star symbolizing athletics success achieved by students athletes.

Finally, In 2014, FIUs third Word Mark Logo was released - featuring all elements from past iterations but adding additional details such as An outline around the panther head giving it sharper look; A silver trim running across the bottom portion below the letters; And most notably addition Flames coming outsides each letter making entire mark appear much bolder than ever before! All these changes made sure that everyone will recognize instantly who they were looking at when seeing this iconic image.

With so many updates over years, one thing remains true: The FIUs Word Mark Logo continues to be a powerful representation of not only what stands for today but also what our future holds tomorrow!
