Ospreys Alternate Logo

The North Florida Ospreys have a long and proud history of athletic excellence. As part of this tradition, they also have an equally impressive logo history that dates back to their inception in 1978. Over the years, the Ospreys’ logos have evolved to reflect changing trends and styles while still maintaining a strong sense of identity for the team.

The first logo featured an osprey set against a red sunburst background with navy blue accents along with “North Florida” written above it in white lettering. This design was used from 1978 until 1991 when it was replaced by another featuring two crossed swords behind an osprey head with wings spread wide open as if taking flight. The words “North Florida University” were written across its chest in bold black letters on top of a royal blue circle surrounded by white stars and stripes representing pride for America's national colors.

In 2003, North Florida introduced its current alternate logo which features just the silhouette image of an osprey flying through three arrows pointing upward towards skyward success – something that has become synonymous with UNF athletics over time! The school name is now printed below instead; all done up in a classic navy blue & gold color scheme so beloved by fans everywhere who cheer on their favorite teams every game day!
