Wildcats Primary Logo
The Bethune–Cookman Wildcats are a college team that has been around since 1904. The team’s primary logo is an iconic representation of its long and proud history. It features the school’s mascot, a wildcat, with its paw raised in readiness for battle. This logo has gone through several iterations over the years as it went from being hand-drawn to computerized versions, but its essence remains unchanged: strength and pride in one's identity.
The first version of the Bethune–Cookman Wildcats' primary logo was created by artist Robert Riggs back in 1940 when he designed it for use on letterhead and other printed materials used by the university at that time. Since then, this classic design has become synonymous with B-CU athletics and is featured prominently on all official merchandise associated with them such as jerseys or hats worn by fans at games or even clothing items sold online through their website storefronts like Fanatics or Amazon Prime Wardrobe stores.
In 2012, after more than 70 years of using this same basic design concept for its main emblematic symbol; B-CU decided to update its look once again under guidance from graphic designer Michael Gallagher who worked closely alongside athletic director Lynn Thompson to create what we now know today as “the new Wildcat head". This updated version brings together elements such as bold lines along with modern colors which make up an eye-catching visual presentation sure to be remembered wherever seen throughout Daytona Beach Florida where they play home games every year! With each passing season, there may be subtle changes made here & there but overall you can always count on seeing some variation of these two designs proudly displayed whenever representing your favorite NCAA Division I program - The Bethune Cookman Wildcats!
