Dragons Alternate Logo
As sports fans, we are all familiar with the iconic logos of our favorite teams. These logos represent more than just a team; they represent a community, a history, and a sense of pride. But have you ever stopped to think about your team's alternate logos? These logos often go unnoticed, but they can tell a unique story. Today, we will be diving into the alternate logo history of the Drexel Dragons.
The Drexel Dragons, a Division I college basketball team, have a long and storied history from 1891. The team has gone through a few logo changes throughout the years, but it wasn't until 2006 that they introduced their first alternate logo. This logo featured a menacing dragon head, with the letters "DU" (short for Drexel University) hidden within the scales. The bold and fierce design perfectly captured the team's spirit.
In 2013, the Dragons unveiled a new alternate logo, which is still used today. This logo features a sleek, modernized dragon head with a sharp, angular design. The letters "DU" are once again hidden within the scales, but this time, they are more subtle and blend seamlessly with the rest of the logo. This alternate logo was a significant departure from the previous one, but it still managed to capture the strength and intensity of the team.
But the Drexel Dragons' alternate logo history doesn't stop there. In 2018, the team introduced a new alternate logo to celebrate its 125th anniversary. This logo featured a more traditional dragon head, with a nod to the team's history, including the year 1891. It was a throwback to the team's early days but with a modern twist.
The Drexel Dragons have also had a few one-time alternate logos, such as the "Drexel 1891" logo used for the 2018-2019 season and the "Drexel Dragons" logo used for the 2019-2020 season. These logos were created to commemorate special occasions and events, and they added a unique touch to the team's branding.
What makes the alternate logos of the Drexel Dragons so interesting is that they all have a common theme - the hidden letters "DU." This ties all the logos together and represents the strong sense of unity and community within Drexel.
