Lipscomb Bisons
Lipscomb University drops the LU logo after being pressured by Liberty University to stop using the monogram, and changed their primary mark to a stand-alone yellow with purple trim letter “L.”
Bisons Alternate Logo
The Lipscomb Bisons are a proud athletic program with an impressive history of success. With that success comes a unique and recognizable logo that has been part of the team’s identity for many years. But did you know the Bisons have had alternate logos throughout their history? Let’s take a look at some of these interesting designs!
In 2010, the university unveiled its first-ever alternate logo featuring two buffalo horns in front of an orange circle with “Lipscomb University Athletics” written around it. This was used to represent both men's and women's sports teams as well as spirit items sold by the school such as t-shirts, hats, etc. The design was met with mixed reviews but still remains popular among fans today due to its simplicity and uniqueness.
Fast forward to 2014 when Lipscomb released another version that featured an updated buffalo head inside a larger navy blue shield shape along with “BISON STRONGER TOGETHER" inscribed on top. This new version quickly became one of the fans' favorites thanks to its bolder design elements while still maintaining familiarity from previous iterations - making it instantly recognizable across all platforms including social media accounts where they often use this particular mark for branding purposes.
Finally, in 2017, we saw yet another variation on this classic theme; introducing us all to what is now known affectionately amongst students, alumni, faculty & staff alike; "the claw". Featuring three interlocking claws representing strength & unity - each colored differently (orange/blue/white) – this latest iteration serves not only as our primary athletics symbol but also stands proudly atop most campus buildings reminding everyone who passes by just how strong our community really is!
So there you have it – A brief overview of some past & present alternate logos used by The Lipscomb Bison Athletic Program over recent years! Whether your favorite happens to be one or more than one of those mentioned above; It's clear why these symbols remain so important within our culture here at LU ... Go bison!!
