Beavers Alternate Logo
The Oregon State Beavers have a long and storied history, stretching back to 1868 when the university was founded. Throughout this time, they have had many different logos that reflect their proud heritage. One of these is the alternate logo which has changed over time but still remains an important part of the school's identity today.
The first version of this alternate logo appeared in 2002 as part of a rebranding effort by then-athletic director Mitch Barnhart. It featured a beaver with its right arm raised and holding an orange shield with "OSU" written on it in white letters surrounded by four stars representing each corner state - Oregon, Idaho, Washington, and California - all united under one banner for Beaver Nation! This design was used until 2015 when it was replaced by another version featuring two beavers facing each other while holding up an orange shield with "Oregon State" written across it in black lettering above them both; some versions also included small stars around the perimeter like before but without any additional states represented within them.
Today’s iteration features three beavers looking outward from behind an orange shield bearing “OREGON STATE” inside white text along its top edge; below that are four large stars arranged at equal distances between each other to represent those same corner states again (Oregon, Idaho, etc.). This modernized look conveys strength through unity – something OSU fans can take pride in every day! With such deep roots embedded into our culture here at OSU, we can only hope that future generations will continue to embrace our beloved mascot & his iconic alter ego as we move forward together into what lies ahead for us all!
