Tigers Alternate Logo
The Jackson State Tigers have a long and proud history of excellence in athletics. The school's alternate logo has been part of that tradition since its inception, representing the spirit and strength of the team. Over the years, this iconic symbol has evolved to better reflect current trends while still honoring past accomplishments.
The original Jackson State Tigers' alternate logo was first introduced in 1965 when it appeared on all official athletic apparel for football players at home games. It featured a large tiger head with two stripes running down either side, which represented both power and speed. This design was used for decades until it eventually became outdated as modern designs began to take over college sports logos throughout the 1990s and 2000s.
In 2020, Jackson State unveiled its new alternate logo featuring an updated version of its classic tiger head design with more detailed features such as fur texture around its face and neck area plus sharper lines along its stripes giving it a much more modern look overall. This new mark also includes subtle nods to some important moments from JSU’s past like “1965” inscribed into one stripe signifying when they first adopted their original mascot identity while also paying homage to legendary coach Waverly Tisdale who led them during those early years. Overall, this updated version captures what makes JSU so special - pride, passion, resilience - all combined together into one powerful image that will stand out among any other NCAA teams' logos today!
