Lancers Alternate Logo

The Cal Baptist Lancers have a long and storied history in the NCAA, and their alternate logo is no exception. For decades, the school has proudly displayed its iconic “Lancer” logo as an homage to its equestrian roots. But over time, that same logo has also been used to represent different aspects of Cal Baptist athletics—from team spirit to athletic achievement. The original version of the Lancer was designed by artist John Dyer in 1967 for use on all sports uniforms and apparel worn by CBU athletes during that season. The design featured two crossed lances with a shield-shaped crest above them featuring three stars inside it—a nod to CBU's official colors: blue (for loyalty), white (for purity), and gold (for excellence). This original design remained unchanged until 1990 when it was slightly modified for use on football helmets; however, this new version never caught on with fans or players alike. It eventually faded away from usage altogether after just one season of play.

From thereon out until today's modern era of college sports branding began around 2010–2011 timeframe, the classic "Lancer" stayed true to form without any significant changes being made other than slight modifications here or there, such as adding more detail to some aspects like shading/outlines, etc... It wasn't until 2017 when things started getting interesting! That year marked another evolution and a new direction for how Cal Baptist would be represented visually - creating unique versions tailored towards individual sports programs like baseball & basketball while maintaining consistency across all teams/sports within the university athletics department.

Today you'll find several variations of "the lance" floating around campus, ranging from traditional designs meant to evoke nostalgia among the alumni base through modernized interpretations which embrace current trends, popular culture & youth demographics alike. No matter what style is chosen, one thing remains constant: passion! The passionate fan base, passionate student-athletes, and passionate coaches are just examples of why cal baptist continues to remain successful athletically and academically despite whatever challenges come a long way.
