Redhawks Alternate Logo
The Seattle Redhawks have a long and storied history in the NCAA, but not many people realize they also have an alternate logo. It’s been around for decades and has gone through some changes over the years. In this blog post, we’ll look at the history of the Seattle Redhawks alternate logo and how it evolved.
The original version of what is now known as “the classic Redhawk head” was first introduced in 1983 when Seattle University changed its name from Chieftains to Redhawks. The design featured a fierce-looking Native American chief with two feathers sprouting out from either side of his headdress and bold lettering underneath “Seattle U: Home Of The RedHawks!” This design would remain unchanged until 1998 when it was slightly modified to feature more modernized elements such as sharper edges on both sides of its wingspan and stylized text beneath its beak that read "Red Hawks."
Fast forward another decade to 2008, when yet another redesign took place; this one features an updated color scheme consisting primarily of crimson red with black accents along its wingspan plus white outlining throughout for added contrast against darker backgrounds or surfaces (such as t-shirts). Additionally, instead of traditional typography being used below, there were now two separate lines – one reading simply ‘RedHawks' while the other said 'Seattle U.'
Overall, these minor tweaks helped give life back into what had become somewhat stale by then, allowing fans everywhere who proudly display their team's symbol wherever they go to show off something fresh yet recognizable enough so everyone knows precisely which school/team you root for!
