Terrapins Alternate Logo
The Maryland Terrapins have had a long and proud history of alternate logos. The first logo was introduced in the late 1970s when it was designed by then-athletic director Jack Zane. It featured an outline of the state of Maryland with a turtle inside it, symbolizing the team’s nickname “Terps” or “Terrapins.” This logo has since become one of their most iconic symbols and is still used today on merchandise such as hats and t-shirts.
In 2000, another alternate logo was introduced featuring two crossed swords behind a shield with an M for Maryland at its center. This design has been used sparingly over the years but remains popular among fans due to its classic look that pays homage to both tradition and modernity alike. In 2008, yet another new design debuted which features just an M surrounded by flames; this version is often seen on apparel items like jerseys or hoodies worn by players during games or practice sessions as well as being sold in stores throughout College Park where many students attend school each year!
Over time these various designs have come together to create what we now know today: The University Of Maryland's Alternate Logo History - A collection that celebrates not only their past successes but also looks forward to future achievements while maintaining respect for tradition! From classic designs like those from decades ago all way up until more recent incarnations; no matter how you look at it there's something special about every single one that makes them unique & memorable in their own right - making them perfect additions to any fans could love having around whether they're cheering from home or down at Byrd Stadium itself!
