As one of the oldest college teams in America, they've had plenty of time to develop an iconic wordmark logo that has become synonymous with their school spirit and athletic prowess. Troy first adopted its current Trojan headword mark as early as 1950 when it was known simply as “Troy State College”. The original design featured an outlined figurehead wearing a helmet with wings on either side; however, it wasn't until 1985 that the university officially adopted this version for use on official merchandise and apparel items such as hats, shirts, and jackets bearing both logos: “TROY STATE COLLEGE” or just plain old “TROY".
