Bears Primary Logo
The Baylor Bears have a long and proud history that is represented in their primary logo. The original logo, which was first used in 1914, featured the head of a bear with an open mouth and two stars on either side. This design has been tweaked over the years to become what it is today: an angry-looking black bear with its teeth bared, surrounded by three stars that represent the school’s motto “Pro Ecclesia et Universitate” (For Church and University).
In 1997, Baylor changed its primary logo from this classic design to one featuring a more modern look for athletics purposes. The new version featured an outlined black bear wearing sunglasses while holding up two fingers shaped like lightning bolts - symbolizing speed as well as strength - along with three stars representing faithfulness around his neck. While some fans were initially unhappy about this change due to their attachment to the old logo they eventually came around when they saw how much better it looked on merchandise such as hats or t-shirts compared to before.
Today's version of Baylor's Primary Logo features another updated take on the classic design; however, instead of just having two eyes staring forward there are now four eyes looking outward giving off a menacing vibe while still maintaining much of what made people love it so much originally – namely those iconic three stars! It also comes in both white/black versions depending upon where you see them being used making sure everyone knows exactly who you're rooting for no matter where you go!

Baylor Proud: A quick look at Baylor’s bear logos through the years
No, that’s not a real “Sailor Bear” Baylor football helmet pictured above; a lifelong BU fan named Matt Carver mocked that up in 2012 just for fun. In fact, in the program’s 110+ seasons, the Bears’ helmets have never featured a bear of any kind — only the interlocking BU. But that hasn’t stopped Baylor Bear logos from showing up in countless other places. If you’re reading this in your home or office, there’s a decent chance you can look around and spot something with a Baylor Bear on it. From pictures to pennants and shirts to stickers, Baylor family members love displaying their school pride with a Baylor Bear logo on almost anything. Read More...
