Lions Primary Logo
The Loyola Marymount Lions have a proud history of athletic excellence, and their primary logo is an iconic symbol of that success. The NCAA Division I school has been using the same logo since its inception in 1911, making it one of the oldest logos still in use today.
The original design featured a lion’s head with two crossed swords behind it to represent strength and courage. This design was used until 1950 when the current version was introduced – featuring a modernized lion’s head with three stars above it to signify victory and honor. The colors chosen for this new look were royal blue and white – which remain unchanged today as well!
Over time, minor changes have been made to keep up with changing trends but overall the logo remains largely true-to-form from its initial introduction over 70 years ago now! It has become synonymous not only with LMU Athletics but also serves as an important representation of school pride across all academic disciplines at Loyola Marymount University.
From football games on campus grounds or cheering on athletes during championship tournaments - Lion fans know that they can always count on their beloved mascot (and his iconic emblem) for support no matter what challenges may come along! As such, we are sure that this timeless classic will continue being part of LMU tradition for many generations ahead too… Go Lions!!
