Sun Devils Primary Logo
The Arizona State Sun Devils have a long and proud history of athletic excellence, stretching back to the late 19th century. One of the most recognizable symbols associated with this storied program is its primary logo: an aggressive-looking devil that has become synonymous with ASU athletics. The original version was created in 1946 by then-ASU student Phil Ables, who drew inspiration from traditional depictions of devils in popular culture at the time.
Since then, many different versions have been used over the years as ASU’s primary logo for its various sports teams. In 1979, artist Todd Radom designed a more modernized version that featured a sleeker-looking devil and incorporated elements such as flames and horns into it; this design served as ASU’s main logo until 1997 when they adopted their current look—a bolder representation featuring larger horns and brighter colors than before.
Today, Arizona State University proudly displays its iconic Sun Devil mascot on apparel worn by students across campus or seen during sporting events held throughout Tempe each year; it serves not only as an homage to past successes but also stands strong against any future challengers that may come along! Whether cheering for football games at “The Sparky” or simply wearing one's pride around town—the Sun Devil will always be there to show support for all things maroon & gold!
