Wildcats Alternate Logo

The Davidson Wildcats have a long and storied history of athletic success, but what many people don’t know is that the school has also had several alternate logos over the years. The first logo was created in 1969 and featured a simplified version of their current “D” logo with an orange basketball instead of black. This design lasted until 1983 when it was replaced by an updated version featuring a white basketball inside the “D” shape.

In 1997, Davidson introduced its third alternate logo which featured two wildcats facing each other while holding up three fingers on one paw to represent the school's motto: "Three things I must do." This design remained unchanged until 2002 when it was changed slightly to include more detail in both cats' faces as well as adding shading around them.

In 2006, Davidson unveiled its fourth alternate logo which included two wildcats again but this time they were facing forward rather than towards each other like before; additionally, there were now five stars above them representing five NCAA tournament appearances for men's basketball at that point in time (which has since increased). The most recent change came in 2012 with another update to make all elements within the circle appear more balanced and symmetrical overall while still keeping true to previous designs - including color scheme changes from blue/white/orange back then to navy blue/gold today!

Overall these different versions have helped keep fans engaged throughout multiple generations by providing something new every few years without straying too far away from tradition or originality – making sure everyone can recognize who they are cheering for no matter where they are watching!
