Eagles Alternate Logo

The Georgia Southern Eagles have a long and proud history of athletic success, dating back to their first season in 1924. While the team has gone through many changes over the years, one thing that has remained constant is its iconic logo. The original logo featured an eagle soaring above a shield with two crossed swords beneath it. This design was used until 1997 when they unveiled an alternate version featuring a more modern look.

The new design still featured an eagle but this time it was surrounded by three stars representing each school within the university system: Armstrong State University, Savannah State University, and Georgia Southern University (now known as Georgia Southern). Additionally, there were 17 stars surrounding the eagle which represented each state in which GSU had students enrolled at that time - Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky Louisiana Mississippi North Carolina South Carolina Tennessee Virginia West Virginia Wisconsin District Of Columbia Maryland Delaware New Jersey Pennsylvania & Maine.

This logo served as the primary symbol for all sports teams from 1997-2013 before being replaced again with yet another updated version of its predecessor – this one featuring just one star instead of 17 representing all states where GSU had students enrolled at that time (and now includes Puerto Rico).
