The St. Bonaventure Bonnies have had a long and storied history in the NCAA, with proud alumni and passionate fans. The first iteration of an alternate logo for St. Bonnie's was introduced back in 1979 when they adopted an image featuring two crossed swords behind a shield with “Bonnies” written across it – this would become known as “the sword-shield mark” or simply "sword & shield". This symbolized strength and courage associated with being part of such an esteemed program, while still keeping true to school colors by using blue, white, and gold accents on its design elements. The sword-shield mark was used until 1992 when it got replaced by another iconic graphic - one which featured three stars around a basketball inside the shape of letter B (for bonnie). This new emblem became popular among fans due to its simple yet effective representation both on court uniforms as well as merchandise items like t-shirts hats etc., which made them highly recognizable even outside university circles

In more recent years there have been some minor updates done on these logos but none so drastic that you wouldn't recognize them immediately if seen today - most notable being the addition/removal/relocation of various accent details like stars stripes etc. For example, 2012 saw the introduction updated version where the 3-star pattern from the previous edition was removed completely leaving only basketball within letter B itself
